About Us

Over the last ten years or more I have dabbled with some form of relaxation or meditation. Initially as part of my drama practice, but I’ve also explored religious meditations, Yoga mantras, active imagination, guided meditation and have even been transported by a Gong.

Away from all these experiences though I wonder how tranquillity can be maintained in everyday life.  The mind is like a machine that never shuts down.  Does the engine of a car or your computer work twenty four hours a day? When was the last time you treated your mind to a service?

Mindfulness encourages awareness of the present moment, completely and non-judgementally.  Skilfully guided mindfulness can be achieved through meditation but you can also practice mindfulness by simply focusing on the present moment and hushing your inner dialogue.

Research demonstrates that mindfulness can be helpful with anxiety, depression, sleep problems, over eating and stress management.

“Realize that this very body, with its aches and it pleasures… is exactly what we need to be fully human, fully awake, fully alive.” ~Pema Chodron

“Stop for a moment and calm your thoughts.  Let go of your anxieties.  What we have is right now and right now is completely as it should be.”  R.S. Marston Jnr. 2001 from http://positivepause.com

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated than that.
It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.
